Nat Turner Biopic “Birth Of A Nation”

The anticipation of Sundance is surely rising with less than 2 weeks left before the iconic film festival begins. There has been great anticipation for the Nat Turner biopic, Birth Of A Nation, expected to debut at Sundance this year.

The film was written, directed, and stars the handsome and talented Nat Parker, you may remember him from The Great Debaters, Red Tails, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s love interest in Between The Lights.

Parker plays Nat Turner an educated slave and preacher that devised a plan to lead his people out of the captivity of their slave owners. In 1831, Turner led a violent uprising in Virginia, himself and other slaves rebelled against their captors planting fear into their slave masters and many other whites.

This powerful story will be told by a talented cast of actors some including Gabrielle Union, Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, and Mark Boone Jr.

The Birth of a Nation will debut in competition at the Sundance Film Festival, which runs Jan. 21 through 31 in Park City, Utah. See more images of the cast below, and let us know what you think about this new biopic!
